Please note that during winter months, we will cancel Cicero classes when North Syracuse Public & Parochial Schools close or cancel after-school activities due to weather. Closings and cancellations are announced on local radio and TV stations and can be found online at www.9wsyr.com/schoolclosings/default.aspx.

Current Schedule Exceptions:

9/6/2010 There will be no class on September, 6th, 2010 in observance of Labor Day.


Please stop by during any of our class times if you're interested in training. If arriving for your first class, please plan to arrive at least 15 to 20 minutes early. Classes start promptly so make sure you're ready to go on time for every class.

While the scheduled Kids's Classes are geared specifically for our younger students, they should also feel free to attend as many other training sessions as they are able.

Please check our event calendar often for additional special classes and seminars.

Participants in the traditional karate training classes should wear an all-white uniform and appropriate belt color according to their grade. New students may wear gym clothes.

Participants in the competition training classes should wear a white competition uniform. They should also bring a mouth-piece and WKF-approved sparring gloves (white, blue or red).


Traditional Goju-ryu classes include:
  • Junbi-undo (warm-ups)
  • Hojo-undo (conditioning exercises)
  • Kigu-undo (strength training using equipment)
  • Basic drills
  • Kata/Bunkai (forms practice and analysis)
  • Partner drills

Competition training include:
  • Sport-specific warm-up and conditioning
  • Sport kumite basics and drills
  • Match scenario simulations
  • Sport kumite tactics
  • Kumite matches
We do not teach or practice sport kata (standardized/shitei kata). Members are free to compete in kata, but they must do so with traditional dojo forms.
Special Sunday Training:
  • Sensei Sergey Kushnir holds special training at 7:30am on Sunday mornings at CNY Aikido on Erie Boulevard. This training is for existing members only and interested students should speak to Sensei Kushnir prior to attending.
